Merlin's History Tour

Start here. Merlin finds you.

History at your fingertips.

Press Hear the story and this page finds where you are standing — on a farm, at a store, in a park, anywhere — then begins telling the stories pinned there, one after another.

Where are you standing?

Merlin looks within 200 metres of you for a story. When he finds where you are, the first story begins automatically, followed by the next.

Can't walk the route? Drive it instead — the stories play automatically as you go. It's a good alternative if you need to stay in your car.

Your tour

Checking whether your phone allows location…

If your phone asks, choose Allow. Then press Hear the story and Merlin will begin.

How it works: stories are pinned to real places — a harbour, a main street, a farm on a river. Press Hear the story and Merlin finds where you are, then tells the stories there in order.

No story where you stand? Merlin will still tell you where you are, and say plainly that there is no information for that spot as of yet. New places are pinned all the time.

Or browse a town from home

This is the other door: pick any town and hear its stories from wherever you are.

The Ranch — a place, not a town

Diana's farm on the Beaver River, near Collingwood — the first story collection outside a town tour. Choose The Ranch and Merlin tells these three in order:

  • Petun Country — the Tionontati villages that stood on this land
  • The Beaver River — 76 kilometres from Feversham to Georgian Bay
  • The Farm Today — horses, healing, and art on the riverbank

These three stories play here in order when you choose The Ranch. The farm's exact map point is kept private.
